HVAC Instructor

Martin Community College is seeking talented applicants for Full-Time HVAC Instructor. The HVAC instructor will be required to provide all instruction as well as determine and maintain equipment needs for the program. Required qualifications include an associate degree in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning from a regionally accredited college.

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in HVAC or a related field; community college teaching experience; professional experience; CFC certification; a Heating Contractor Group 3 licensure. Applicants should also be a licensed HVAC Contractor as well as a NC Refrigeration Contractor.

Applicants should have a minimum of at least one year experience in the industry. Applicants with five years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. Preference will be given to applicants who have the CFC Certification and prior teaching experience. Qualified applicants will be given immediate consideration.

Dental Assisting Instructor

Martin Community College is currently seeking a full-time Dental Assisting Instructor. Responsibilities include development, implementation, management, and teaching of the dental assisting curriculum. The dental assisting instructor will also provide classroom/laboratory/clinic instruction and will be responsible for training site supervision. Essential skills of the instructor include good knowledge of dental practices and procedures including practical ethics and confidentiality; basic dental records, charts, and forms; dental terminology; and a sound knowledge of instructional methods and techniques.

Required qualifications include a Dental Assistant Certification, a four-year degree or currently enrolled in a four-year degree program of study in a regionally credited college/university, and at least two years full-time work experience in a dentist office. Teaching experience is preferred.

Webmaster

Martin Community College invites applications for a Web Master to join our Information Technology team. The position will report to the Director of Information Technology. Position will be responsible for new and existing websites at Martin Community College. This will include the design, program, test and maintenance of the websites. Incumbent will plan and maintain projects with limited supervision; conduct project planning and website design, conceptualize and assist with long-range planning for web development. The position will also work closely with the System Administrator as backup and help to administer Self Service and other web-based applications.

Position requires excellent working knowledge and ability to support various programming languages and systems such as visual studio, Drupal, ASP.NET, SQL Server, MySQL, JavaScript, windows server, IIS, Apache Tomcat and PowerShell.

Preferred experience in Network Framework, SharePoint server, mobile web development, and media web applications.

Educational minimum is an Associate’s degree in Web development with at least 2 years of web development experience.

The ideal candidate will be creative and possess a high level of ingenuity. Effective communication skills and a thorough understanding of web development and data base architecture are essential. Commercial Cleaning Instructor (part-time)

This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institute in Windsor, N.C. Responsibilities include training for entry level environmental services/custodial staff positions in a commercial setting. Core topics will include cleaning/detailing of interior offices, bathrooms, common areas and floor care; dispensing of cleaning chemicals and blood-borne pathogens; and understanding various OSHA regulations.

Requirements include high school diploma/equivalent, training and/or experience in custodial/environmental services or related areas, and pass a background check.

Preferred qualifications include teaching experience and an associate or bachelor’s degree.

Transition Advisors

Martin Community College invites applications for three Transition Advisors. Responsibilities include: enrollment/registration, placement test administration, academic advising to include education and career goals, early alert notifications and follow up, retention and completion initiatives, working with a culturally diverse student population. Placement is within Martin County and/or Bertie County Schools. Emphasis is upon Career and College Promise Pathways enrollment. This position may also include teaching sections of ACA 115 and ACA 122.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Prefer degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or education. Minimum of 2 years of experience in high school or college counseling, or academic administration and advisement preferred. Strong computer skills; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Requirements: teaching experience in a community college setting. This position is full time and grant funded through December 2017.

Instructional Coordinator for Emergency Services

Martin Community College (MCC), which is in rural eastern NC and serves roughly 860 curriculum students and nearly 2,000 continuing education students annually, is seeking an Instructional Coordinator for Emergency Services (ICES).

This position coordinates and participates in instructional programs emphasizing emergency services, and as necessary, aligns assigned activities with other college divisions, departments, and outside agencies. The ICES also provides administrative support to the Executive Director of Continuing Education.

This position serves on various committees and is expected to improve community relations by attending, hosting and participating in local associations, agencies, and group meetings.

A variety of instructor responsibilities such as developing and promoting courses, scheduling, teaching, record retention and documentation of student progress are also required.

This position recruits instructors to teach various courses and exercises both technical and functional supervision of all ES related instruction.

Educational requirements include an Associate Degree in Emergency Services or related field; with additional education in one or more areas of emergency services from an accredited college or university and certified as a Level II paramedics instructor.

Experience requirements include 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in academic and instructional programming and two years of post-secondary teaching and or counseling experience.

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Demonstrated decision-making ability, excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service are essential qualifications. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Part-Time Basic Skills Instructor – Bertie Correctional Institute

Martin Community College is seeking to attract qualified applicants for a Basic Skills Part-Time Instructor at Bertie Correctional Institution. The selected candidate(s) will substitute for basic Skills classes at various times as needed.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education with 1 or more years of experience in an instructional setting as a teacher.

Must have the ability and knowledge to provide basic skills instruction to students in reading, writing, science, social studies and math. Must possess skills necessary to make appropriate student assignments for a multi-level classroom, administer assessments and tests and maintain accurate student and program records.

Electrical Systems Technology Instructor (9-month)

Small Engine Repair Instructor at Bertie Correctional Institution

Martin Community College is seeking talented applicants for a Small Engine Repair Instructor for the Bertie Correctional Institute. The position teaches students to diagnose, adjust, repair and overhaul small engines used to power lawn mowers, chain saws, recreational sporting and related equipment.

General requirements include observing students' work, determine training needs of students, and administer, oral, written, or performance test to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness. Requirements also include developing curricula and plan course content and methods of instruction. Job specific skills include teaching students to repair & maintain gasoline engines used to power equipment. Adjust points, valves, carburetors, distributors, and spark plug gaps as well as test & inspect engines.

An Associate Degree (preferred) from an accredited college with major coursework in Automotive Technology & 3 years of related work experience. ASE certification is required. Applicants with five years of professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
